Ms. Saulsberry's Message :  The first quarter of school is almost over.  That means Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming up.  Please be on the look out for sign ups.  We are going to be using ParentSquare this fall for signing up.  Our goal is to meet with 100% of our students' families during conference week.  You can meet with us in person or virtually.  If either of those are a struggle, we can also speak with you via phone call.  These conferences are a great time to find out what your child is learning in school and how their development is progressing.  There is lots of good news to share and we are excited to see you!

We will continue to greet students outside the door by teacher cones but we will not continue handing out lanyards every day.  Students are all very confident entering the building and finding their classrooms at this point in the school year.  School staff also know who needs a little extra support.  We will bring back the lanyards later in the year after breaks from school.

Ms. Rhonda's Tip

Offer healthy food options!

Did you know that even with the season of candy approaching, YOU can still be in control of what your child is offered to eat?  Offer  your children healthy options for their meals and snacks.  Plan to sit down to a meal together as a family and talk about your day.  Click HERE for more helpful information about feeding  your children.  You may also be interested in making alternative fall treats.  Email or call/text me for more information:  rhonda.beatty@usd253.net or 620-412-8231.

News from the Hive:

This month’s Capturing Kids’ Hearts character trait is Self-Direction—doing the right thing and following rules, even when it’s hard. At school students are learning to:

  • Make safe and kind choices

  • Follow rules

  • Keep trying when things feel tricky

At home, you can have a little fun with “My Things, My Rules!” Let your child choose a favorite toy or special belonging and help them create 2–3 simple rules for taking care of it. This gives your child a chance to feel proud, practice self-direction, and learn that they can take good care of the things that are special to them.

Try simple rules like: “Use gentle hands,” “Keep it in its spot,” or “Put it away when you’re finished.”

Thank you for sharing your child with us!  Mrs. Bea 🐝

Attendance Matters
We take daily attendance at Jones and follow the same attendance and truancy policy as the elementary schools.  Please call or email the office any time your student is absent from school.  Unexcused absences occur when your child is gone and we do not hear from you.  We will be sending out letters and making contact after the first quarter of school if we have concerns about your child's attendance.
